You’ll launch after Willow Beach Marina (paddle-craft launch beach), about an hour from the Strip, inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. From there, you’ll paddle past the giant volcanic boulders at the mouth of Black Canyon, pause briefly at a historical site along the shoreline, and keep an eye out for desert bighorn sheep, osprey, falcons, bald eagles, and great blue heron on both the Nevada and Arizona banks before gliding into Emerald Cave itself — a shaded cut in the mountain, not a tunnel, that glows turquoise when the light hits it right.
